Go START-2018 Challenge

Category: Body, Mind, Spirit

In the spirit of the new year, and resolutions that are notorious for being broken, let’s talk about changes in our routine that can stick: creating healthy habits.

Between January 1 – January 31, challenge yourself to create a habit and maintain it for the month, with the goal of carrying on throughout the year. Check-in every time you practice the new habit. Maximum check-in is once a day.

Whatever your goal may be, whether it’s making more time for yourself, exercising more, or reducing stress, change is more effective and lasting with the right plan and attitude.

One effective strategy that you can use are SMART* goals, or goals that are specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, and time-framed. SMART goals can help you to better track your progress, set realistic expectations, and will help get you further along than you could have ever imagined. Download this worksheet to help you get started!

      • It’s not as bad as I thought it was. It takes some thought, which I wasn’t expecting, but I feel good!

  4. I’m working on the habit of dealing with my child without anger, regardless of what’s happened.

    • how’s it going? that’s an awesome habit to work on. I am tempted to try as well.

    • Good for you! It’s so hard not to react. I found that what helped me was really learning to observe behavior and describe what I was seeing and realizing that I had a choice in how I react. Learning to observe behavior help me to separate my emotion and react less. And now my sons are not phased when there is something negative going on. When I get upset, they say things to me like, Mom, it’s up to you how you react to “whatever is bugging me”. LOL (they are 30 and 24 now)
