Category: Body

Category: physical wellness

Duration: one month
Completion credit: 150 minutes of exercise = automatically entered into a raffle for a chance to win a prize

Physical wellness promotes proper care of our entire bodies for optimal health and functioning. Purposeful exercise (i.e. cardiovascular, strength training, etc.), cumulative daily movement, minimal sitting, proper rest and sleep, preventative medical care, and healthy eating habits are just some of the components of physical wellness that contribute to our overall well-being.

In this challenge, the focus is on purposeful exercise and daily movement, similar to the Go Move Challenge in February that takes place among AJCU faculty and staff, and the Students Go Move Challenge among AJCU students. This October, USF faculty and staff will compete against USF students to inspire one another to move more!

Be sure to include your minutes and describe the type(s) of physical activity each time you check in.

  13. Sad to say, I broke my seven day exercise streak due to the fires in Sonoma County. Breathing has been rough. My thanks to the USFers who donated to the MFT Donation Drive. The smoke filter mask has really come in handy. My power came back on, so I ran the air filters in my house and rode my stationary bike this morning. I definitely felt my privilege from the seat of my bike to the somewhat cleaner air I was breathing. One of our MFT alumna asks that I share this link requesting donations to the victims of the 2017 North Bay Fires. Redwood Credit Union Community Fund: https://rcu-community-fund.squarespace.com/donate/

  14. Haven’t been running as much with all this smoke, but hope it clears soon so I can get back to it!

    • It definitely has been more of a challenge to exercise due to this horrific smoke. Nice to have indoor options. Stay safe!

  15. Since the air is so bad, I think it’s better to keep the physical activities indoors! Stay safe! ๐Ÿ™‚

  16. Just did 90 minutes at the Sheriff’s posse arena walking horses that had to be evacuated from the Yuba fires. They need the exercise while their humans find a new place for them to stay and I need my steps!

  17. I cannot figure out where I put in my minutes. I have logged in and there is now place to input the minutes.

    • hi connie, email me at skisylia@usfca.edu and i can help you.

  18. Beautiful Day at the Grand Canyon. From sunrise to sunset.
